What is this all about?

Clockwork Rampage is a third person shooter game with RPG elements that's all about intense multiplayer competitive combat. Players assemble mechanical steampunk robot avatars by using unique NFT components and play together with their teammates to achieve victory, using a variety of melee, ranged, and special abilities to take down their opponents and reach the game mode objectives. The fast-paced action and strategic gameplay make for an incredibly fun experience, with every match feeling unique and exciting.

It’s built in Unreal Engine 5 and it’s using the MultiversX for the blockchain part (in game currency and NFT items).

Players fight against each other in a variety of game modes (Deathmatch, Capture the flag, Protect Objective, Team deathmatch etc), much like popular shooters, but it also includes deep RPG mechanics that allow players to create unique builds and progress their characters over time.

The images displayed are taken in game from the alpha version, but there might be differences in the final models and overall feel.

The gameplay is placing significant emphasis on player skills, strategic positioning, gear management, character builds and teamwork. The intention is to achieve a balanced gameplay experience that would meet the standards required for consideration as an e-sport, ensuring that players with a similar skill level, when equipped with equal gear, have fair opportunities for success. This will be done by frequent patching for balancing, based on community feedback and data collection.

There are 3 types of robots players can build:

  • heavy – moves slower, has bonus health, can equip more modules and has improved accuracy.
  • swift – moves very fast but can’t use all weapons, has less health and can equip fewer max modules.
  • balanced – in between the other two.

They can all be customized with various unique components to fit the player’s style. The weapons equipped dictate the main attacks, and the rest of the modules will increase stats and give extra abilities that can be used in combat.

The gear used in the game are NFTs (non fungible tokens) on the MultiversX blockchain. They can vary a lot: for each slot there is a big pool of potential stats that can roll. The rarity can also vary and the higher rarity items get more stats from the pool and higher values. The items can be upgraded by consuming other items causing a constant burning, demand and scarcity of the NFTs.

The game also features a skill tree that gives you, the mechanic, the ability of making stronger robots, to further customize the gameplay.

Free to play (F2P) friendly

The game is not limited in any way of owning anything. Players need a free Epic Games account to log in and play. The game can be played at the lower tiers without a wallet – but to use the stronger NFT gears and to access the market players need a free MultiversX wallet.

Having a crypto currency and a market where players can trade items for it, it’s fundamentally pay to win but free to play players can still have the same fun in the general game modes because of the matchmaking based on gear score for skirmishes or by ELO type ratings for the premade teams and events – players that are skilled and invest more time and resources will have stronger competition but also way higher rewards, while the casual players will be matched with other casual players.

Players can earn NFTs and the game token by playing – so with time investment they can get all the possible gear, it just takes them way longer compared to someone that invests. At the same time, the game has a serious skill cap, so very good players that work together as a team can defeat better geared teams.

And the best part of it all: even if a player wants to buy his way to the top, he still needs to purchase items from other players, so someone has to own what they need and to be willing to sell it, making it an interesting market. The game company does not sell items, everything will be generated (crafted) by the players.

Play and Earn

No matter what the players do in the game, they constantly earn something to make them a little bit stronger.

There are some rewards at the end of every single game, no matter the game mode.

First of all, players always get experience points – leveling up gives them more stats and skills they can assign to make them stronger. The game has an infinite leveling system but the players only gain more stats after a level – so the skill points are limited.

The second common reward are the metal scrapssince you just smashed your opponents into gears and bolts, you get to take some back to your garage and build your own useful modules out of them. They come in various rarities and they guarantee the players get new items constantly.

The items can be weapons or mech components that can be installed on the avatar, giving it extra stats and new abilities.

The highest rarity shards and items will be very scarce but since all the gear can be upgraded by consuming others, everything has an use.

Player can trade the created items by using the game crypto coin, Cogs.
